Engaged now what? There are a few things you want to do before starting to plan –

©       Determine your budget. This includes money others are contributing. Be sure to get firm commitments and timing to prevent issues as you move forward.

©       Decide what is important to you two.  What does each of you want? You may have different ideas and that is okay...as you move forward one of you may decide the other's choice makes more sense. Make 3 lists – we must have, we would like, but can live without, and if we have extra money we will do these.

©       Start your guest list.  Remember your parents will have people close to them they want to invite. Your head count is very important in your cost basis.

 

Do I need a planner? It depends. Questions to think about - 

©       How busy are you?

©       Do you stress easily?

©       Are you good at research, interviewing, and knowing what to look for?

©       Do you have someone to manage your wedding day including problems?

 

Your answers will help you decide if you need help whether a professional wedding planner or a family member/friend. 

 

Planners are expensive. Just like anything else cost is 'relative' .  A planner brings industry knowledge, venue and vendor contacts, and someone to help you with the details as you plan. You have a professional who knows the wedding industry working with you and guiding you. On your wedding day you can relax as someone is handling everything for you.  Many times based on our business contacts we can save you money...often almost making hiring us free!

 

Do planners get compensated for referrals? I cannot speak for others, but I do not.  I refer based on knowledge of the person or company. I surround myself with people I know will deliver quality for you. If they offer a discount to me, I have it passed directly to my customers. I do not refer based on discounts, but when I can save you money and get amazing vendors for you I will!
